Whittaker, Robert I enlisted at HMCS Star in Hamilton in March 1944 and was drafted to Cornwallis, N.S. where I was qualified as a submarine detector (ASDIC), commonly called a ping merchant. I was then drafted to HMCS Peregrine in October 1944 and sent to HMC ML074, a Fairmile, where we patrolled the area outside Halifax. After V-J Day (Aug 14, 1945), we sailed to Quebec City to decommission ML074. From here, I was drafted to Saint John, N.B. where I received my honourable discharge on October 31, 1945.
